Shelby

SHELBY is a SEAL POINT HIMALAYAN with lovely light blue eyes. She is 5 years old, has her claws, is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and microchipped. This little lady weighs a bit over 9 lbs.

Shelby came to us from a far away shelter where she was surrendered due to some urination issues. This has been resolved by providing her with a combination of urinary prescription wet food alternated with other healthy wet food. Her foster mom also adds an affordable herbal supplement that just gets sprinkled on her food and which she inhales (yes, she is a little bit of a foodie and loves to gobble up any kind of yummy food).

Shelby’s foster mom is very smitten with this adorable little cat. She exhibits that rare combination of total sweetness (when she wants to be loved on) and also just the right amount of spunk, spice and sassiness. She will roll over to expose her tummy (currently shaved), which is actually not an invitation to rub the tummy for good luck. Then she’ll look at you all adoringly as if to say, hey, look how cute I am. Then she’ll jump up and run full speed along the hallway, at which point her foster mom cracks up and realizes how fun it is to foster this charming and entertaining little spunk monster.

She enjoys playing with some toys (either a little bit on her own by batting crinkle balls or catnip mice around or having someone interactively play with her and “Da Bird”). She also likes sitting on the window ledge watching birds and other moving objects. As soon as she sees or hears her foster mom, she comes running for a greeting, which sometimes includes a head butt. When her foster mom watches TV, Shelby will often sit close by to hang out and to receive some much appreciated pets. She so much wants to be part of a family and close by where the action is.

Shelby is confident and is completely unfazed by other kitties. Her foster parents don’t have any dogs, but assume an older, chill and cat friendly dog would be just fine. She would most likely be okay with older children as long as they learn her cues (i.e., do not touch the exposed tummy).

Her ideal home will be with people who are familiar with the grooming needs of this breed, and who also have the space for multiple litter boxes since this little lady likes to have options. To assure proper hydration and to prevent future urinary issues, we highly recommend that Shelby is kept on a wet food diet. She had a blood panel done which shows that she is a healthy little cat.
