Project Description

Jacques is an incredible red and white Dwelf.  He is neutered, has his claws and weighs around 9 pounds.  “What is a Dwelf?” you say?  Well, think about a hybrid that is a cross between a sphynx, a munchkin and an American curl.  This 2 year old definitely shows off the traits of all 3 breeds.  He is short-legged (more in the front than the back taking on the appearance of a stout and squat bulldog), has a very fine almost chamoisy-like coat and curled ears.  He feels super soft and very warm.  What an awesome lap warmer he is! Believe it or not, we received him from a humane society after being surrendered by a past owner who was not home enough to care for him.  Jacques is comfortable and confident.  He has adapted easily and seems to get along quite well with other kitties.  (His best friend, foster kitty Hope adores him! They snuggle and she helps in keeping his ears clean too!) He is active and playful and can’t get enough lovin’ from humans.  Don’t let those shorter legs fool you either!  He has no problem scooting around and playing hard.  He easily climbs the cat tree and loves his scratching post.  He is happy burrowing on your lap or with a buddy too. Keeping in mind the breeds in his genetics, it is important to know that he is high maintenance.  He needs regular baths as he can be greasy and he needs monitoring/cleaning of his ears.  His eyes need wiping a couple of times per week.  Jacques loves to eat and it is important to monitor his weight to reduce the strain on his joints and back.  (He is solid!  As he runs around he truly reminds me of the Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile!  He should have regular vetting to monitor not only these things but his heart knowing that sphynx are more prone to heart disease.  (Jacques’ heart currently sounds terrific.)  His wonderful personality is sure to put a big, fat smile on  your face.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the care of one or more of his breeds.  He should be fine with cats, dogs and kids past the screaming years.  🙂  Adoption fee:  $400.  Fostered in Oshkosh, WI.
