Atlas

ATLAS is a magnificent SEAL LYNX (TABBY) POINT MITTED RAGDOLL with big blue eyes. He is 3 years old, neutered, has his claws, is up to date on vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV negative. He weighs nearly 14 lbs.

Atlas came into our rescue when his owner could no longer take care of him. When his foster mom first saw this gorgeous kitty, she noticed that he had a limp. A vet exam revealed that he needed FHO surgery on his right rear leg, which our organization took care of. Here is an article about this surgery that his future guardians might want to read: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/femoral-head-ostectomy-fho-in-cats

He has recovered very nicely from the surgery. His fur is growing out and he still has a slight limp which should resolve over time. Since he isn’t an overly active kitty his rear leg will take a while longer to regain full strength, but it doesn’t deter him from running up and down the stairs or running at full speed when he gets the occasional zoomies.

Atlas is a confident, laid back cat who enjoys hanging out near his humans. He is not a lap cat and doesn’t want to be petted a whole lot, but he does want to be where the action is. His foster parents crack up every time he vocalizes – he makes the funniest noises and chirps, mostly when he is announcing that it’s meal time…pronto. Speaking of meal time, he is being fed urinary wet food only to assure proper hydration and to prevent urinary issues in the future. This article explains very well why wet food is so important for our feline companions: www.catinfo.org.

Atlas tolerates and seems to enjoy the company of other kitties, as long as they are of similar size and temperament. He is currently living with his foster parents three big, fluffy boys, who are all older, but he can be a bit of a bully towards older kitties. As long as the kitties are close to his size, age, and confidence, and given proper and slow introductions, he should do well in a home with other kitties, but he will also be okay as a one and only. Although his foster parents don’t have dogs, because he is a confident cat, Atlas would probably do fine with a dog who loves his feline buddies. Older, respectful children should be fine for him as well. He is using his litter box perfectly.
