SPONSORS NEEDED!
We were contacted a couple of weeks ago by a small rescue organization around the Madison area regarding a horrendous situation of several cats found living in hazardous and filthy circumstances. The group had known about this particular owner due to past neglect cases and his family was active in getting local animal control involved. When his home and outbuildings were raided they found VICTORIA, a wonderful little SILVER PERSIAN, living in the back room of a shed with several other cats surrounded by their own feces. Her coat was hugely matted (as you can see in the photo above) and was not only rock-hard to the skin, but covered in encrusted fecal material. These were some SAD KITTIES!
The rescue group was in dire need of help as they just didn’t have space for Victoria and of course after seeing the photos above, how could we say no? It was estimated that Victoria and had been living in these conditions with very little human interaction for at least 5 years and hadn’t seen a vet in at least that long. What makes this even more sad is that Victoria is 15 years old and she had pretty much been left to die there. Victoria and the other cats were immediately taken to a local vet clinic, shaved and vetted and then Victoria was taken in by one of our local foster homes. Her foster mom reports that this kitty is incredibly sweet and loving and seems very thankful to get rid of her dirty coat and have plenty to eat in a clean environment (she also uses the litter box 100% and is SO HAPPY IT IS ALWAYS CLEAN!!) The vet work already done on her indicates she is actually in remarkably good health for her age, though she is going to need time to gain weight and heal from the sores on her due to the matting and filth. She is probably going to need to have a full dental done as well as additional blood work over time to make sure she is stable before we place her in her Forever Home. We have been inundated lately with serious cases like this and really need some sponsorship for this little girl and the others in our care! Our vet bills for 2011 were in excess of $95,000 and we could not do it without YOU! We know you love our cats as much as we do and always step forward to help! Please considering sponsoring VICTORIA by going to our “How you can Help” page (link above) and donating through our Google link. Or, if you prefer, a snail-mail donation to SPCR at 3032 47th Ave., Kenosha, Wi. 53144 is also grealy appreciated! Everything is fully tax-deductible and we are more than happy to send receipts! We will list you or your companion animal or anyone you would like on the listing as a Sponsor for Victoria and will keep everyone updated on her progress! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

ROMEO…is a sweet BLACK PERSIAN. He is around 2 years old, neutered and has his claws. He weighs around 7 pounds and he has a silky, full coat, nice “doll” face and bright gold eyes. Romeo and another cat were left at an Indiana shelter when their owner could no longer keep them. He starts off as a shy, easily frightened kitty who blossomed in foster care and is now a total lap cat for his foster folks. He can often be found flipped on his back begging to have his tummy combed (he LOVES GROOMING!!) and is a very affectionate and loving little boy. But he startles easily and needs to have a quiet, adult home where he always feel safe enough to be someone’s best lap cat! Romeo is fine with other easy-going, non-dominant cats that will not bully him. No small kids or dogs please. Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.
LUNA…is a lovely WHITE PERSIAN FROM EGYPT. She is 4 years old, spayed, has her claws and weighs around 7 pounds. She has an easy, silky white coat, bright pink nose and luminous gold eyes (on a very nice “doll” face…no maintenance here!
Luna is one of 6 cats we recently took in from our partnering organization in Egypt (www.esmaegypt.org ). She is a vibrant, happy girl who is quite active and playful for a Persian, but again she is a youngster and has a lot of energy to spare! Luna loves toys, attention and plenty of activity in that order! She is fine with other cats, though being a female she can be somewhat dominant at times, so another easy-going non-dominant cat or cats would be optimal. These cats from Egypt tend to be frightened of dogs, but we have placed one or two in homes with very calm, easy-going dogs and they have done fine. Luna would be a good companion kitty for another active kitten and would probably be ok with older, respectful kids (she would get too overstimulated with smaller ones). Luna has a slight scar on her left eye that doesn’t affect her in any way and is probably from an old injury. Our vet checked it out and was completely unconcerned. Luna would be great for someone new to the breed looking for an easy Persian! Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN RACINE, WI.
LEOPOLD…is a handsome RED PERSIAN. He is between 2 and 3 years old, weighs around 10 pounds, is neutered and has his claws. He has a medium-care, full, thick coat in bright orange, nice “doll” face and bright gold eyes. What a friendly, happy fellow this feline is! As you can see by his video below, Leo is quite the charmer! He came to us originally from a shelter in Milwaukee where he had been left when his people moved. He was then adopted to a family that took good care of him but were not quite prepared for what a long-haired cat requires, so he is back with us looking for his FURREVER home! Leo is sociable and friendly and usually makes himself at home pretty quickly in a new environment. He is moderately active, loves to be where ever his people are and would be good with respectful older kids. He would probably be ok with a cat-friendly dog as well. Leo has roomed with several other cats and gets along fine with others though he does tend to be a bit dominant (he really feels he should get ALL the attention). He is good about grooming and LOVES his food and could stand to lose maybe 2 pounds to be optimal weight. He needs a high-quality diet (well all cats do…let’s be fair about this) to do well and folks who will accept his maintenance needs as a long-haired cat. Adoption fee $175. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.

JERRY is a handsome BLUE POINT SIAMESE. He is one year old, neutered, weighs 9 pounds and has his claws. He has a plush, cream colored coat with striking blue/grey accents on his face, legs and tail. Jerry has a personality as big as the room, and almost never stops purring – even at the vet he laid on his back doing happy feet in the air while they were drawing blood for testing! If only they were all this good natured! Jerry enjoys the companionship of other cats and delights in a good game of soccer with a glitter ball. He is everyone’s best friend… outgoing, curious, playful and VERY friendly. He is great with cats – dogs and respectful children would be fine too. Nothing seems to bother him! DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!! FOSTERED IN MILWAUKEE. Adoption fee $150.
TREVOR… is a handsome SEAL POINT SIAMESE. He is around 4 years old, neutered and has his claws. He is a BIG boy at a bit over 11 pounds but he is structurally large and long and is still a bit on the thin side so he may be more like 13 when he is fully back up to weight. He has a dark coat with a black face and legs and bright blue eyes.Trevor came to us from a Chicago shelter with no history. He didn’t look as though he had been well cared for so we really have no idea, but he’s been doing well in foster care and now needs his FURREVER HOME! Trevor is an easy-going, friendly guy who would probably be a good family cat for a home with older, respectful kids. He is not talkative, moderately active and loves attention and affection. He would be ok with another easy-going cat and maybe a dog that would not chase or bark at him. Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN GURNEE, IL.
SHELBY…is a lovely TORTI POINT HIMALAYAN. She is 1 to 2 years old, spayed, has her claws and weighs around 7 pounds. She has an easy, silky coat (which will become more full over time), gorgeous colorations, nice “doll” face and bright blue eyes. Shelby came to us from a shelter with no history. She adapted quickly to foster life and has been getting along well with her kitty roommates. She likes to be the “top kitty” in any given situation, so another dominant cat would not be a good idea, but she is fine with easy-going cats that let her do what she wants. Being a young cat, Shelby is playful and active and LOVES her scratching post! She is a social girl and will come out to meet and greet anyone who would like to see her! She is affectionate and good natured and would probably be fine with a respectful dog and older kids. Adoption fee $175. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.WATCH SHELBY ON YOUTUBE

DEUTERONOMY…is a wonderful BLUE POINT MITTED RAGDOLL. He is neutered, front declawed and just had a full dental done. He is a big boy (like Ragdolls are supposed to be!) at 14 pounds and has a gorgeous, medium-length bunny-soft coat in greys and cream, and bright blue eyes. As you can see by his photos, our boy here is not only just a magnificent feline, he is quite the floppy guy too! TUMMY RUBS ANYONE?? Deuter came to us from a home where he was being severely bullied by another cat and his quality of life was pretty poor. So we figured he had to do better elsewhere and he certainly has proved it in his foster home! His caregiver writes, “Deuter loves to interact with his foster mom! He loves to lie on his back and have his tummy rubbed and he loves his catnip toys and even plays a few rounds of fetch with his glitter balls! Deuter is an affectionate cat that loves to curl up for cuddle time. ” This happy boy is a very HEALTHY 11 years old and we had the full blood panel done to prove it! He is going to give some lucky family a lot of years of love, and you can provide him a good home to live them out. Deuter would be ok with one other easy-going cat that would not bully or dominate him. An older and/or very mellow dog would be fine and respectful kids would be BONUS!
Mature Adoption fee $80. FOSTERED IN MILWAUKEE.

MAJA…is a unique SEAL POINT SNOWSHOE SIAMESE. She is around 3 years old, spayed, has her claws and weighs 9 to 10 pounds. She has a very pretty, interesting coat pattern of seal point colored CIRCLES on both sides, surrounded by pure white! Her tail is pure chocolate brown as are the splotches on color on her slim face, highlighted by bright blue eyes. Maja came to us from a Chicago shelter with no real history other than being “unwanted.” She is a very friendly, sociable girl, as you can see by her video below, and has been a lovely cat to foster. Maja is obviously listed as a Special Needs cat because she has one ear that was damaged in the past, probably from a previous ear infection that was never treated. As a result, the outer part of her ear is scarred down over the opening. When she came to us we had her ear flushed and treated and it is currently fine. But her new people are going to have to keep the ear canal clean and be watchful for any other mild ear infections that may occur. She is currently NOT on any medications. She is otherwise perfectly healthy. Maja is not talkative and is moderately active and playful. She does not mind being held and she loves to be around her people. She would probably be ok with a cat-friendly dog and older respectful kids as she adores attention. She would probably love to be the one and only cat in the household but another easy-going cat that would ignore her and allow her to be the Queen Kitty would be ok too! She would be an excellent Siamese for someone new to the breed! Special Needs Adoption fee $80. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.

TIGRESS…is a gorgeous BROWN TABBY (coloration) PERSIAN FROM EGYPT. She is around 5 years old, spayed and just had a dental and has her claws. She weighs around 7 pounds. Tigress is one of several cats currently on our website that came to us from our partnering organization in Egypt (www.esmaegypt.org ) and she is here as a new immigrant looking for her Forever Home in America! As you can see by her video below, Tig is just a LOVELY cat. She is very calm, sweet natured and loving. She gets along excellently with other cats…absolutely no problem whatsoever, and just lives for attention and doting. She is fine being picked up and held like a baby and is not shy around strangers. Tig’s fur is medium-care and she is ok about grooming but needs someone calm and experienced to do it (she probably never had that in her life). She has a nice “doll” face and her eyes stay pretty clean. She would probably be great with respectful kids and maybe a respectful dog that would ignore her. Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.

SASHA…is a wonderful CREAM AND WHITE BICOLOR PERSIAN. He is 2 years old, neutered and has his claws. He weighs around 8 pounds and his plush, cottony coat is growing out of a neat lion cut. Sasha came to us from an owner who loved him and his brother very much but could not afford their care. Sasha had a painful eye that was near to rupturing when he came into rescue and was so upset and cranky from it he could barely be handled. As soon as we took him in to get the eye removed (as recommended by our vet), boy did Sasha feel better! Even immediately after surgery he was purring up a storm and as happy a little guy as you would ever want to meet! His stitches are now out and as soon as the fur grow back over his face he will have the one bright gold eye and look as though he has a perpetual cheerful wink.
As you can see by his video below, Sasha is a very friendly kitty and just loves attention and petting. He’s even really good about grooming, which is always a plus! He grew up with another cat and should be fine with them. He is moderately active, adapts quickly to new environments and would probably be fine with respectful, older kids. We haven’t listed him as Special Needs because he HAS NONE! His other eye is perfectly healthy as is the rest of him and the only thing really missing is YOU!

JUNIOR…is a wonderful FLAME POINT SIAMESE. He is 2 years old, neutered and has his claws. He weighs around 8 pounds and has an easy, short coat in white with patches on gold on his face, paws and tail, and bright blue eyes. He is an affectionate, very playful, happy boy who enjoys sitting on his foster mom’s lap and getting tummy rubs. He is excellent with other cats and would be fine with a cat-respectful dog. Junior is perfectly healthy but is listed as Special Needs because he came from a very dysfunctional situation and tends to panic when he is moved to a new place. He needs people who will be patient and understanding of his need to get used to things slowly, and will provide him with a small room at first where he can settle in at his own pace. Once he is settled in he is a sweet, loving boy, but he is really upset at first. The best home for him would be quiet, cat-experienced and adult (NO SMALL KIDS). We suspect that as he matures an gets to his Forever Home, a lot of his ghosts will go away and he will be absolutely fine. Special Needs Adoption fee $80. FOSTERED IN GURNEE, Il.

SELINE…is a friendly SEAL POINT SIAMESE. She is spayed, has her claws and is around 4 years old. She weighs between 7 and 8 pounds and has an easy, short coat in chocolates and cream, and bright blue eyes. Seline has done well in foster care and her caregiver writes, “She has not scratched on anything and is very good about her claws. Part of my problem with taking pictures of her is that she will not sit still long enough for me. As soon as I am in her room, she is all over me…! She just needs lots of love! Seline is not a talker, I do not hear her at all. Her personality is so fabulous; she LOVES to be held and would be an excellent lap cat. She comes close and just purrs wanting to be held.” This wonderful kitty is moderately active and would probably be fine with most households. She would be ok when introduced properly to other cats, a gentle dog and respectful kids would be great! Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN DEPERE, WI.
TINA …is a darling SILVER PERSIAN FROM EGYPT. She is around 3 years old, spayed , has her claws and weighs around 6 pounds. She has an easy, silky coat, lovely “doll” face and enormous gold eyes. Tina, along with several other cats on the website right now, came from our partnering organization in Egypt (www.esmaegypt.org ) and is loving for her FurrEver Home in America! Tina is a petite little girl who will melt your heart with her cute little face alone! As you can tell by her video below, she is an affectionate and friendly cat who seems always to be purring and likes to meet and greet. She did come in to rescue rather “head-shy”, which is not unusual for cats that have been handled roughly in their lives (many of these Persians have come from horrendous “pet store” situations in Egypt and have not had the best care). She has made great strides in foster care and really enjoys being pet but she takes a little time to warm up to new people. Tina is fine with other cats but is dominant so would do best with an easy-going cat that will not get in her face or try to dominate her. She is active and playful and should absolutely blossom in the right home. The best home for her would be cat-experienced, quiet, adult and will let her get used to things at her own pace. An easy-going dog that would not chase or bark at her would probably be ok but she would do best with adults. . Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.

SOPHIA … is a lovely SEAL POINT SNOWSHOE SIAMESE. She is spayed, has her claws and is around 5 years old. She is a slim 7 pounds and has a really pretty chocolatey and cream coat with white boots on all four feet and big blue eyes. Sophia came to us, as so many of these cats do, from a shelter where she had been dropped off as “unwanted” with a litter of kittens. She raised her own family successfully and then went on to nurse other motherless kittens that came into the shelter for a few months before picking up a cold that was so severe she almost died. Fortunately our foster folks were able to nurse her back to health, get her spayed and now she is looking to find a home of her own that will care for her as much as WE do!
Sophia is a very friendly, sociable kitty who is described by her current foster mom as “an absolute sweetheart.” Anyone who comes to visit will find a very loving kitty plopped on his or her lap purring immediately and begging to go home. She is not shy about her affections and nobody is a stranger! Sophia is excellent around other cats and good with new environments and situations. She will pretty much walk into her new home and act as though she has always lived there. A gentle dog that will not chase or bark at her would be fine, as would older, respectful kids. She is not talkative and would be a great starter cat for someone new to Siamese or cats in general! Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN RACINE, WI.
