Welcome to the homepage for Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue, a 501c3 NON-PROFIT organization celebrating 10 years of finding quality homes for abandoned/surrendered purebred cats in the Midwest! We are the largest rescue organization of its kind in the midwest and we are well known and respected throughout the animal sheltering community.
Our group, composed of wonderful volunteers who generously open their homes and hearts to abandoned and abused purebred cats, work closely with shelters and other rescue groups to take in and find homes for the surprisingly large number of purebred felines which find themselves in bad situations. We are able to take in as many as 40 cats at a time, spread amongst the group, but we always have a considerable waiting list of cats that need to come into our very limited foster space. Cats are kept in homes in their own rooms and are given the best of care. Foster homes are located in northern Illinois, Kenosha, Racine, Burlington, Milwaukee, Madison and Oshkosh. Cats are seen by appointment only after an adoption application has been filed and approved.
We require an adoption application (see Adoption Application Page) and an adoption fee. Cats which are adopted out are always
spayed/neutered, vaccinated, feline leukemia/FIV tested, dewormed, flea-free, groomed and microchipped. Many have often had dentals done as well, and cats 8 years and older have often had blood panels completed. We primarily receive Persians, Siamese and Himalayans, so if you are looking for these breeds PLEASE CONTACT US. We receive many rare breeds as well. Our website is updated DAILY so if you don't see what you are looking for, just wait! You never know!
If you are in the midwest, need to surrender a purebred cat and are willing to drive to one of our foster homes, we do take them in on a case by case basis as space allows. A waiting time of several weeks is not unusual due to volume. Shelter cats due to be euthanized are always our first priority.
We usually do NOT take in mixes other than Rex or Sphynx. We also will NOT take in cats over 10 years of age or with a history of aggressive/very shy behavior. We are careful about where each and every cat is placed and do require an adopter to sign a contract indicating the cat must be returned to us at any time if it can no longer be cared for.
Most of the cats who come to us have been through terrible situations and just need good homes where they will receive the true quality of care they deserve. If you would like to share your home with one of these special kitties, browse our website, learn about why we are here and what we do, fill out an adoption application and TAKE HOME SOME LOVE!
